The Sunshine Coast is a family-friendly destination that is ideal for a family holiday. Offering the perfect mix of beach and nature, a laid-back lifestyle, fun attractions and great dining options! There’s so much to do that it’s hard to narrow it down, but here’s a taste of the amazing things to do with kids on the Sunshine Coast…
Play at The Beach
The Sunshine Coast is home to some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches. Pack the bucket and spade and head down to the beach to enjoy your time building sandcastles, searching for shells, and swimming (between the flags) in the ocean.
Visit Buderim Falls
Approximately a 20 minute drive from Maroochydore, you’ll find the picture-perfect Buderim Falls, also known as Serenity Falls, in Buderim Forest Park. If you’re visiting with kids we recommend accessing from Harry’s Lane, located off Lindsey Road. You can take an easy 600m walk through sub-tropical rainforest on an elevated boardwalk. When the walkway ends, the route to the base of the waterfalls becomes more rugged and requires some scrambling over rocks and the banks of Martins Creek. But with due care even younger children should be able to make the journey.
Have an Animal Encounter
Discover a wide range of animals at Australia Zoo, marvel at aquatic creatures from below the surface at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, or meet some new feathered friends at Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World! Book now.
Pick your own Strawberries
During strawberry season, head to McMartins Farm in Bli Bli, and let the kids have a turn at picking their own strawberries. When they are done picking, you can treat the family to an award-winning ice cream!
Explore the Coastal Pathway
Stretching from Bells Creek in the south to Coolum in the North, The Sunshine Coast Coastal pathway is 73km long. Why not go for a family bike ride or just a nice long stroll? Some of the journeys you could take include the Maroochy River Connection: Mudjimba Beach to Cotton Tree (12km), or the Maroochydore Connection: Cotton Tree to Mooloolaba Beach (4.4km)
Enjoy the Maroochy River
Hire a small boat, BBQ Cruiser, kayak, canoe, or stand up paddle board and enjoy some time on the water.
Staying in Maroochydore, you will be centrally located to enjoy everything that the region has to offer, including these awesome things to do with the kids on the Sunshine Coast.
