Ironman competitors from all over the world will compete on a world-class Ironman course in Mooloolaba on Sunday 8 September 2019.
Kicking off at 6.10am, these fierce and fast competitors will take in the best that Mooloolaba has to offer, starting with a swim off the surf beach followed by a fast bike course and a two lap run course along the Esplanade cheered on by spectators.
The 70.3 refers to the total distance in miles (113 km) covered in the race, consisting of a:
- 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim at Mooloolaba’s magnificent surf beach
- 56-mile (90 km) bike ride
- 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run
Each distance of the swim, bike and run segments are half the distance of that segment in an Ironman triathlon.
Key vantage points to set up to view the race include:
- Loo with a View, Mooloolaba beachfront
- Corner of Buderim Avenue and Mooloolaba Esplanade
- Alexandra Parade, Cotton Tree
- Beach Terrace.
The venue and finish line are positioned along the scenic Mooloolaba Esplanade right in the heart of Mooloolaba. Come along and watch this gruelling race against one of the most stunning backdrops, at Mooloolaba Beach. Don’t forget to make your way to the finish line as the IRONMAN 70.3 presentations will be held at 2pm. It’s a great spectacle for all the family.
